Shoemakers Pure Brass Welt Mill
Welt mill used by shoemakers, cobblers and shoe repair shops to create even thickness welts for shoemaking. The welt mill consists of brass steps on which to keep the knife.
Size: Approx 120 by 25 by 25 mm with 9 steps. Steps tappers from 5 mm to 3 mm
Welt mill channel accepts 20 mm wide welts 20 mm.
Handmade item from oak wood base and pure brass steps.
How to use the welt mill:
Place the welt mill on your lap and secure with a strap using your foot. The strap goes over the grove in the wooden block. Once firm then place the rough side of damp welt in the welt mill channel facing you. Place sharp knife edge on the desired brass welt mill steps for the desired welt thickness required. Now gently pull the welt towards you ensuring the knife edge firmly sits on the brass steps.
